PJ Ace — known on X as @PJaccetturo — is the CEO of Genre.ai, an AI filmmaker with 96,200 followers, and one of the most-watched independent creators on the internet right now. His total view count across platforms has crossed 300 million. He has been featured in Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. And he is currently doing something that Hollywood studios have called insane: releasing weekly episodes of an AI-generated sci-fi series while simultaneously producing a full-length feature film.

The series is called Nexus. The teaser — "Nexus - Wet Markets of Kafar" — was made by three people in two weeks and has racked up 3.3 million views on YouTube in its first month. Watch it above.

HOW NEXUS GOT FUNDED

The origin story of Nexus is worth understanding. Ace originally created a trailer for the XPRIZE competition — a $2.5 million prize for an optimistic sci-fi film. Making that trailer is what led directly to Nexus being greenlit as a funded feature. "Let me show you how you can win $2.5M to fund your dream film," Ace wrote on X in June, sharing the full playbook. The post has been seen 148,000 times.

The Nexus universe is now expanding weekly. Episode 2 — "Nexus | Pup Racing" — dropped four weeks ago and hit 25,000 views. "Nexus - Airships of Egypt" followed with 266,000 views. The latest entry, "Independence Day, 1776," posted on July 3rd, has already crossed 2.2 million views on X alone. The premise: "Everything they taught you about July 4th, 1776 is a lie. The Redcoats weren't soldiers. They were something else. We recovered the real footage using Utopai."

THE TOOLS BEHIND THE WORK

Ace builds his films using a stack of AI video tools — Kling, Seedance 2.0 (in 4K via CapCut Video Studio), Utopai, Midjourney, and Veo 3 — and he documents the entire process publicly. His Legend of Zelda AI trailer, made in five days, has 9 million views. His breakdown of how two AI ads built on Kling won at Cannes 2026 has been seen 291,000 times. He runs a newsletter at pjace.beehiiv.com where he shares his full playbook with other creators.

"Hollywood studios think we're insane for doing this," Ace wrote when announcing the weekly Nexus episode cadence alongside feature film production. "We're now putting out weekly episodes WHILE we begin production on a full-length feature film."

WHY IT MATTERS

What PJ Ace is building is not a gimmick. It is a new model for independent filmmaking — one where a small team with the right tools and the right vision can produce cinematic work that competes with studio output, build an audience in real time, and fund a feature film through the quality of the work itself. The barrier to entry for storytelling at this level has collapsed. Ace didn't wait for permission. He built the proof, put it out, and let 300 million views do the talking.

The Nexus feature film is in production now. The weekly episodes keep dropping. And the playbook is public — Ace shares everything. That's the move. That's the culture.
